5 Upcoming Accessories Trends to Elevate Your Outfit

As the summer fashion season descends upon us, that one crucial question appears: What will I wear with it? The greatest addition to any outfit is its accessories and it can turn a horrible outfit into a fashion-forward masterpiece, or make a stunning fit look clunky and dull. On today’s post, we will be counting down five of the most prominent accessories seen on the runway — and giving some styling advice for each.

Pointed Toe Shoes

I love a good pointed toe pump! I rarely have a pedicure done (being so busy and all that fun stuff), so the majority of my closet is filled with classic, closed toe pumps. They’re versatile, professional, comfortable, and super easy to style! I also love how they elongate the legs and give a refined finish to my look.

Pair these with a tailored pantsuit for a power office look that will let everyone know, even if you’re not the boss, you are a boss b*tch. For a chic daytime look, I’ll opt for a pair in a neutral shade like black or nude, while for a bolder statement, I’ll choose a pair in a vibrant color or with embellishments.

Chokers

Yes, you heard me correctly. Chokers are back, again! It seems like we’ll never get rid of them at this point. The main difference this time around is upgraded sophisticality. Gone are the days of the plastic black choker, and now we have a metallic, sophisticated necklace fit for any style diva.

Chokers can be styled with just about anything — from a beachy jean short and bikini top combo, to a silky gala dress. It all depends on what type you have and where you want to wear it.

Headbands

The Blair Waldorf aesthetic is coming back into style (as if she was ever out of style in the first place). With the last few years being overrun with the “coquette” aesthetic, coupled with the quiet luxury movement, it is no surprise to see the two trends married in the “boarding school prep” style coming in this summer and fall.

Headbands make any outfit look more feminine and cutesy, without taking away from the powerful statement look. They’re also a lifesaver on bad hair days, and effortlessly add a chic touch to any hairstyle.

Funky Bags

Now if you’ve seen my closet, I almost exclusively have black and gold bags. However, I have started stocking up on some fun tote bags – perfect for tying together any outfit, either in the big city or down at the beach. I’ve found that it’s a great way to make my outfit more cohesive! One great rule of thumb when trying to style different colors into one outfit, always match your shoes and accessories.

Doubling Up

While not a specific accessory, doubling up on bags is a trend that you will be sure to see quite a bit this summer. My recommendation for this trend is to pair a minimalist, neutral bag, like a simple brown or black leather tote, with one of the cool, funky bags pictured above! Or, if you want a more minimalist approach, you can pair two simple bags together, like my friend Robert did. Feel free to mix and match these bags with some of the other accessories trends mentioned as well.

Hope this helps you style some amazingly killer looks and I can’t wait to see all the fun accessories you all style!
